I reviewed the Wuben T4, a new mini tactical flashlight that comes with an Osram W2 for long-range performance.
Wuben sent me a sample of the T4 for review. I was not paid to make this video, nor have I withheld any negative opinions of this light.
Wuben T4 Review
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So Wuben has been making a ton of EDC flashlights for a while now, but one area they’re not so well known for is tactical lights. I have the T1 which I reviewed previously and was very impressed with, but no one seems to know about it due to the lack of marketing. The T4 is a miniature tactical light with some very unique features that I haven’t seen combined in a tactical light.
• What’s included: my sample model includes the light, 18350 cell, clip, and glass-breaking tactical ring.
• Comparisons: Nextorch TA20, Wuben X0, Wuben C2, Convoy S8, Fenix PD35R
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• For a tactical light, there seems to be a lot going on with the design. The diameter of the head is noticeably larger than the body. Blue clip on the battery tube. There’s some light knurling. There are a lot of interesting cutouts and shapes along the body. I notice that Wuben has used a similar sort of styling as seen on their X series lights. The ring under the head unscrews to reveal the USB-C charging port. The tactical ring connects to the clip and is secured by fastening the tailcap behind it. The anodizing is slightly glossy and is also a bit slippery.
• Tailcap has some interesting features. It is locked in place unless you pull it. You can then rotate to the different modes (lock, duty, tac). The tail switch has a dual-stage switch that also allows tailstanding whilst still providing easy access as it protrudes from the end. Takes an 18350 cell.
• The bezel is crenulated and has a blue retaining ring. Appears to have an Osram W2 or CSLPM1.TG is paired with a smooth reflector and glass lens.
UI – modes
• Lock mode.
• Duty. Full press, then half press to change modes from LMH.
• TAC – half press for high, full press for strobe.
Performance – total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• Focused hotspot, decent size but not as large as if an SFT40 was used instead. Usable spill too.
Considerations
• Would prefer a black clip, higher tensile steel too.
• Fast step down on high. I also think they could push the W2 a bit more as the heat sinking is good due to the chunky head.
• I almost wish this was an 18650 light. Wuben – include an extension tube with this light, please!
• Not compatible with 16340/CR123 primaries.
Verdict
This is a feature-packed mini tactical flashlight. Wuben has put a lot of thought into this light, and though I noted a few improvements, I think would make a great option for beginners or enthusiasts looking for a unique-looking and pocketable tactical light.
