The Sofirn HS21 has been my favourite budget headlamp for a long time, but now Sofirn has released its successor: the HS23.
The good news? Sofirn kept the rotary switch design that made the HS21 so popular, and they’ve brought back the red LEDs that disappeared on the HS22.
The HS23 also gets some serious upgrades:
- Up to 3320 lumens
- 21700 battery support
- Boost constant-current driver
- Spot, flood and red light modes
- Improved switch design
- Longer runtimes and better sustained output
In this review I’ll compare it directly against the HS21, test the beam profile, discuss real-world usability, runtime potential, comfort, and whether the extra size and weight are worth it.
