What IS this thing!?
The Wurkkos K1 might be one of the strangest-looking flashlights I’ve ever reviewed. When I first received it, I honestly wasn’t even sure which way I was supposed to hold it.
But once I figured it out, the design started to make a lot more sense.
The K1 is essentially three different lights in one: a powerful forward-facing spotlight, a warm high-CRI floodlight and a 360-degree RGB/ambient light.
For the main beam, Wurkkos is using the relatively new SFT-42R LED, combined with a Fresnel lens to create a compact but surprisingly useful focused beam. There’s also a high-CRI floodlight on the rear, plus RGB lighting integrated into the side of the flashlight.
I’ve been using the K1 for a week to see how practical this unusual design actually is, and in this review I’ll take you through the build quality, LEDs, optics, controls, modes, output, beam profile, colour temperature, CRI, runtime and real-world usability.
I’ll also demonstrate the strobe, SOS and beacon modes, the lockout function and the different RGB modes.
The rotary control on the rear gives the K1 a very different interface from most flashlights, while the RGB strip doubles as a battery indicator. It can also be used as a right-angle light thanks to the side clip and magnets.
There are a few compromises, including a one-minute step-down from turbo and a clip design that I think could be improved with a double-sided clip.
But overall, I think Wurkkos has created something genuinely useful rather than just making a flashlight that looks weird for the sake of it.
You get a powerful spotlight, useful high-CRI floodlight and RGB ambient lighting in something that still fits in your pocket.
So is the Wurkkos K1 a gimmick, or is this actually one of the most versatile EDC flashlights around?
