Nextorch TA15 V2.0 Review
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So I’ve reviewed a ton of Nextorch products on my channel, and most of them have been full-sized tactical flashlights. Today I’m going to be reviewing the Nextorch TA15, a pint-sized tactical flashlight that comes with all the bells and whistles you’d see in its full-sized counterpart! This is the perfect tactical light if you don’t need a whole lot of power, or if you’d like to run off primary cells.
• What do you get in the box?
• Compared to TA30 Max, E52C
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Excellent machining and attention to detail – standard for the entire range of Nextorch products. No rough or inconsistent spots on the body. Glossy black anodizing that’s slippery. For some reason, Nextorch hasn’t used their matt black, grippy finish on this light. The knurling at least provides some grip. Rigid pocket clip under tailcap to ensure it doesn’t come off. Light is operated through a single tail switch with a secondary rotating switch that allows you to select different modes.
• CREE XPL-V6 + SMO reflector + glass lens. Stainless steel bezel with three ceramic glass-breaking beads.
• Runs on a variety of cells: AA, 14500, CR123, 16340 – there is a spring-loaded system within the battery tube that adjusts depending on the battery inserted. Clever idea and I can’t believe this is the first time I’ve seen this feature in a flashlight! This could eliminate the need for battery spacers or cartridges.
UI – modes
• Rotating switch TAC, LMH, Strobe
• Half press tailswitch for high. Full press for strobe.
Performance – total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• For a small, pocketable light, the TA15 has a decent amount of throw. Flood is limited due to the deep reflector but still usable.
Considerations
• Wish Nextorch had used their standard matt black anodizing, but it’s not a dealbreaker. The knurling helps provide some grip.
• Smaller battery capacity, but easier to pocket/store away.
I reviewed the Nextorch TA15 V2.0, a mini tactical flashlight with a uniquely designed battery tube that allows you to use various battery sources.
• 700 lumens, not a powerhouse but it gets the job done.
Verdict
If you’re looking for a small, thowy tactical flashlight that takes primaries, this could be the one for you! The TA15 comes with everything you need right out of the box and is so easy to use you don’t even need the instruction manual. It’s versatile and can take a whole range of batteries including AA cells which makes it a great emergency light even.
