Convoy M1 (CSLNM1.F1) Review
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So I’ve reviewed a ton of Convoy flashlights, but somehow, I’ve managed to bypass the M1. I think initially it was because I was put off by the larger bezel diameter. But lately, I’ve been making some allowances just due to the obvious long-range advantage you get from larger reflectors. I think the M1 is right on the cusp of what I’d comfortably carry around in my pocket. My version of the M1 comes with a CSLNM1.F1 emitter. I measured the range to be nearly 1km!

Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Great quality machining at this price point. Reminds me a bit of the M21B, but smaller. Lots of cooling fins on the head. The M1 has a military feel, and a simple, downplayed design. The anodizing is matt black, a little slippery. Tail switch. I’m using my own clip from a Sofirn light.
• CSLNM1.F1 paired with SMO reflector. Glass lens. Crenulated bezel.
UI – modes
• 12 mode groupings + ability to turn off mode memory
Performance – total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• Ceiling bounce test, CRI, CCT
• Intense, small hotspot with some limited spill.
Considerations
• Doesn’t come with a clip
• No on-board charging, and no battery included. You can get one from the Convoy store separately though. You’ll need an external 18650 battery charger or another 18650 light that has onboard charging.
• Limited spill beam. This is expected for a dedicated thrower light. Up close, or on walks you can lower the brightness and it’s still usable.
Verdict
• If you can put up with the larger diameter head, and external battery charging, this is an incredible high candela flashlight that beats almost anything else out there of the same size. The 3-minute runtime on turbo was pretty amazing. The M1 also comes with a low price tag!
