Darren here, and these are the SoundPEATS CC3 Pro, a pair of open-ear earbuds that don’t actually go inside your ear canal!
I’ve been using SoundPEATS earbuds for years, but I’ve increasingly preferred having some situational awareness when I’m out running, at the gym, cycling or doing other outdoor activities. The CC3 Pro take a completely different approach, clipping comfortably over your ears while leaving your ear canals open.
They stay firmly in place during running, gym sessions and mountain biking, while also being small and comfortable enough to wear for extended periods.
Obviously, traditional in-ear earbuds still have an advantage when it comes to isolation, bass and overall sound quality. But after using the CC3 Pro, I was surprised by how good they can sound when you turn them up, particularly considering they’re not actually sitting inside your ears.
They also offer impressive battery life, app support and a simple pairing and charging experience.
There are a couple of things to keep in mind. You’ll generally need a higher volume to get the best bass response, and the speakers need to be positioned correctly on your ears.
But if you’re looking for comfortable earbuds for the gym, running, cycling or outdoor activities while still being able to hear what’s happening around you, these are definitely worth a look.
Let’s take a closer look!
