Darren here, and this is the GOYOJO GRL335, a long-range thermal monocular that’s quickly become one of my favourite gadgets I’ve tested!
It’s designed primarily for hunting and spotting, but it can also be useful for animal and bird watching, scouting, outdoor use and security applications. The really impressive thing is the range. This is the only thermal monocular I own that can easily spot thermal objects nearly 3km away.
And the really interesting part is the price. The GRL335 costs significantly less than some comparable long-range thermal devices with similar specifications.
The GRL335 features a standalone display, onboard video recording, USB-C charging, an SD card slot, a removable 18650 battery and a rail mounting system. I also swapped the included 2200mAh cell for a higher-capacity 4000mAh Xtar 18650 to increase the potential runtime.
But it’s not perfect. The view is quite zoomed in, which makes it much better suited to long-range spotting than navigating around at close range. The screen is also smaller than I expected, and the companion app is basically a VLC-style video stream with some noticeable lag.
So is the GOYOJO GRL335 actually the best bang-for-buck long-range thermal camera?
