Which of these lights do you own? Or which one would you pick?
These are all well-known throwers that use different designs to achieve long-distance illumination.
The FC-12 and L8 both use reflectors, while the IF22a uses a TIR lens. There’s significantly more spill on these two lights due to the reflectors. The IF22a also has some light spill on medium and high mode. The beam is also nicer to look at – softer and has no rings around the edges.
I was pretty blown away by the performance of the L8. It leaves the others in the dust. But then again, you may not want to carry around a 600+ gram flashlight with you all the time.
