Is This The Brightest EDC Flashlight? Imalent LD70 Mini (4000 Lumens)
So I managed to get hold of the Imalent LD70 recently. This is a serious ‘pocket rocket’ and the brightest EDC I own by far. But is it worth buying? And are there any hidden compromises? Find out in my video. Affiliate links below:

Imalent LD70 Review
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• The first thing that stood out to me was the design – it has a very ‘cyberpunk’ feel, and almost looks like those energy/health packs in some FPS games. It’s very unique and I like that. The LD70 has been out for a while now and Imalent has a reputation for squeezing out the most lumens in their flashlights. They currently have the world’s brightest flashlights, the MS18 and SR32.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Angular design with various interesting cutouts. The light looks like it was made from two pieces joined together, i.e., the colored shell and the black inner tube. Interestingly there is no clip. The anodizing is amazing – matt finish and grippy. There’s an OLED display on the side of the light that shows the mode, battery level, and lock. I’ve only seen this in one other light, the Wuben X3. Magnetic charging on the side.
• XHP70.2 LED – tried and tested. It’s a very efficient and floody LED. Produces a wall of light. OP reflector and glass AR lens.
• I like the detailing of the inner ring of the bezel – it’s blue and sits above the glass.
UI – modes
• Demonstration + strobe
Performance – total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• CRI, CCT, Ceiling bounce test
Considerations
• I sometimes accidentally activate turbo as the time to register a double click seems longer than other lights I own. This is mostly when I click and hold to go to another mode, and then release/click again to switch off.
• Proprietary battery and charging. Unsure if you can replace the battery yourself – looks complicated to take apart. The magnetic charger doesn’t orient itself in the right direction at times. No big deal, but you’ll have to clip it on properly to make sure it charges.
• Low battery capacity – 1100mAh 18350. Standard for EDC lights of this size, and isn’t an issue unless you’re hitting the higher modes often.
• No clip – it’s an EDC light?
• Hot on turbo!
Verdict
If you’re looking for the smallest and brightest flashlight you can own, the LD70 may be the one for you. There are not many other lights out there that have all the unique features of this light, let alone the smaller size, and still produce 4000 lumens.
