Darren here, and this is the new Olight Oclip 2 Ultra, and it might just be the most versatile clip light I’ve ever reviewed!
You’ve got separate spot, flood, red and UV modes, but that’s only the beginning. The head rotates so you can point the light forwards or down, while the clip itself rotates 360 degrees. That means you can use it as a headlamp, clip it to your hat, attach it to a pocket or backpack strap as a right-angle light, or simply use it as a conventional front-facing flashlight.
It’s also very well built, with a strong clip, magnetic base, USB-C charging, a side rotary switch and Olight’s magnetic charging compatibility.
There’s even a rather unusual feature called Oclipbeat that changes the side lighting colour as you use the light.
After using it for a week, let’s take a closer look at the build, controls, beam performance, UV and red modes, and all the different ways you can actually use this little light.
There are a couple of compromises, including the non-replaceable battery and a fairly quick stepdown from turbo, but overall this is one seriously clever little EDC light.
